Town started the 2017/18 season with an impressive 4-1 away victory over Queens Park Crescents on the Astroturf at Wixams.
QP Crescents took the lead early in the 15th minute when a pull back was turned into the empty net by an unmarked Glenn Tumlity. However their lead only lasted 8 minutes. After good build up play Delroy Phillips held off the challenge of two QP defenders before slotting the ball past the advancing keeper.
On 29 minutes Town took the lead when a cross field ball into space saw Daniel Green accelerate past the QP defence and again slot the ball past the helpless keeper.
Half time 1 - 2
On the hour mark the impressive Green made the score line 1 - 3. He picked the ball up on the left wing and he drove into the 18 yard box, past 3 defenders before taking the ball round the keeper and sliding the ball into the unguarded goal.
It took until the 88th minute for any further meaningful goal mouth action. After good work from Green, the ball fell to Ollie Watton's feet and he was able to curl the ball into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.
Next week Town find themselves without a fixture so in their next game they welcome Wootton Blue Cross to their new home of Kingsfield on Saturday 2nd September, 2:30pm kick off.
